Job Description

Salary: 87,100 - 157,450 USD per year Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a foundational knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services and the cloud ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions such as Dell VXRail.
  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration of server operating systems such as Linux (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu) and Microsoft Server (2012 R2/2016).
  • Familiarity with supporting virtual desktops running Linux, Microsoft Windows, and/or macOS.
  • Experience with scripting/automation through Linux Shell scripts, PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing environment.
  • Experience with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends.
  • Experience with server patch management methodologies.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently within an IT Service Management/ticketing system (ServiceNow).
  • Ability to triage and properly classify incidents, prioritizing work efforts accordingly.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • A proven track record of working effectively within a team and supporting peers to improve processes and results.
  • Candidates must meet DoD 8570.11 - IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP).
Responsibilities:
  • I interact with customers to handle service inquiries and problems.
  • I provide technical support, administration, and monitoring of Linux, Microsoft, and Mac systems within a VMware virtual environment.
  • I support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, rapidly distinguishing isolated user problems from enterprise-wide application/system problems.
  • I coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, and develop and implement solutions associated with incident tickets and requirements.
  • I develop solutions to complex technical issues and provide follow-up reports for Root Cause analysis, engineering technical assessments, and process improvement initiatives.
  • I support customer requirements in a 24/7/365 environment and am available for on-call support during outages occurring after hours.
  • I update operations and monitoring documentation for 24/7/365 Operations Watch personnel.

We at Leidos are seeking a System Administrator to support a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD. This role requires individuals with technical experience in administering Linux and Windows servers within a VMware virtual environment. Attention to detail is essential in capturing customer inquiries accurately. Teamwork is key to ensure mission needs are met and functionality is maintained for our customers. While performing this job, you may be required to conduct technical software configurations, rebooting, and other remedial actions on customer servers.

Additionally, the following qualifications and conditions must be met:

- Due to the nature of our government contracts, US Citizenship is required, and a TS/SCI with polygraph is mandatory for this position or TS/SCI with a willingness to obtain a specific polygraph.
- Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience is required. Years of experience may replace the degree.
- Preferred Qualifications include certifications in VMware (VCA/VCP), Microsoft Server Administration (MCSA), Linux Administration (Linux+), or Mac Administration (ACSP), as well as experience with Ansible, Satellite, Puppet, or Chef.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $87,100.00 - $157,450.00. Please note that while this range serves as a general guideline, actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other relevant factors.
