Position Title: Firefighter/Paramedic Class D
The City of North Ridgeville is building an eligibility list for entry level Firefighter/Paramedics. Applications and scores will be accepted December 2, 2024 to February 17, 2025. Candidates must complete the NTN exam, Public Safety Self Awareness (PSSA) and City Application by February 17, 2025 in order to be considered for the eligibility list. *Agility Certificates will be accepted until February 17th to allow candidates to take the February 9, 2025 Tri-C Agility Exam.
Salary Information: $71,946.47 for 2025 annually for Firefighter/Paramedics Class D.

Department Overview: The North Ridgeville Fire Department proudly serves a community of over 35,000 residents and growing. The City opened a new 23,000 square foot fire station in 2019 and received funding for an addition and remodeling at fire station #2 in 2020. The mission of the North Ridgeville Fire Department is to provide a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property of our residents and visitors from the adverse effects of fire, sudden medical emergencies, and other dangerous conditions. Our goals toward accomplishing our mission rely heavily on prevention, education, and customer service.
Requirements: Must be a US Citizen, ability to speak English, age 18-40, provide a valid driver's license, High School Graduate or GED equivalent, Firefighter's Physical Agility Certificate from Tri-C and Paramedic Certification. Physical Agility Test Certificate of Completion and copies of all documentation for extra credit must also accompany the application and MUST be uploaded to NTN or emailed. No documentation will be accepted after the deadline for filing. Information concerning the agility test and testing dates can be found at the link provided.
Extra credit will be given upon successful completion of the written test in the following categories once proof is submitted along with the application packet.
Military (15% Reserves, 20% completed service honorably discharged)
College Transcript (5 pts)
Valid & Current FFII/EMT Cert. (2 pts)
Area Information: North Ridgeville is 25 square miles and the largest city in land area and third largest population in Lorain County with 35,280 residents and growing. North Ridgeville is primarily residential with rapidly growing retail and industrial areas.
Hiring Process: Applicants placed on the eligibility list who are called in for an interview shall be required to pass a Computer Voice Stress Analysis, psychological examination and a physical examination as determined by the Police & Fireman's Disability & Pension Fund and shall be conducted prior to the hiring of a candidate. Medical examination fee will be paid by the City.
Additional Requirements: Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift. Individuals must be physically capable of operating motor vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and remain insurable. Applicable Ohio Department of Public Safety EMT and Firefighter Certification.
