Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead daily operations of a senior living community with a focus on service excellence, team engagement, and resident satisfaction. This individual will be accountable for operational performance, community culture, team development, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. In partnership with regional leadership, the Executive Director will also drive strategic planning, sales performance, and financial results.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of community operations, providing hands-on leadership and building strong relationships with department heads, team members, residents, and families.
  • Lead execution of the community’s strategic and financial goals in alignment with corporate objectives and local market demands.
  • Maintain daily visibility in the community and ensure a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.

Team Development & Culture Building

  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing, service-driven team across all departments.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture through coaching, mentoring, and performance management practices.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure appropriate coverage that meets resident needs and supports operational efficiency.

Resident Experience

  • Ensure a consistently exceptional resident experience by engaging with residents and families, resolving concerns promptly, and maintaining high satisfaction and retention levels.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Council and other resident engagement forums to foster a vibrant community life.
  • Support care planning and service delivery to protect resident dignity and promote wellbeing.

Financial & Regulatory Oversight

  • Lead the creation and management of annual operating and capital budgets, analyzing community performance and adjusting plans to meet or exceed targets.
  • Monitor expenses and explore opportunities for operational efficiencies while maintaining quality of care.
  • Ensure full compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations and company policies, including licensure requirements.

Sales, Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Partner closely with the sales team to achieve occupancy and revenue goals through active lead generation, tours, and relationship-building in the local market.
  • Represent the community with professionalism and purpose, cultivating partnerships with local organizations, referral sources, and civic groups.
  • Participate in external events and activities that reflect the community’s values and mission.

Facilities & Safety

  • Ensure the physical plant is maintained to company standards, overseeing preventive maintenance and property inspections.
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role within senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
  • A combination of additional experience and leadership success may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses & Certifications

  • State-specific Administrator’s License (if required).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for business purposes.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven leadership with ability to manage cross-functional teams and daily operations.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, analyzing P&L reports, and achieving revenue targets.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in senior living or healthcare settings
